ABC News has announced a new application for Apple’s iPad that has news stories, videos and photos displayed on an interactive 3D globe. The app’s layout lets readers easily choose the stories from ABCNews.com that they want to read by tapping different parts of the screen.
David Westin, the president of ABC News, said about the new app:
We’re excited to provide Apple iPad users with a unique news application that features the best of ABC News reporting and takes full advantage of what the iPad has to offer to news consumers in an exciting and imaginative way.
Anne Sweeney, the co-chair Disney Mendia Networks and president of Disney-ABC Television Group, added about the app:
ABC News continues to leverage technology to tell the stories no one else can and this innovative new app is the next step in our effort to redefine broadcast journalism for today’s consumer. Paired with ABC’s hugely successful entertainment app, our newest addition gives consumers the best in news and primetime programming on a very powerful and popular platform.
The app can also be programmed to show users the stories that would most interest them.
We'll be sure to get this for our iPads! What about you?
