For everyone who thought that Disney's latest princess film, like last year's The Princess and The Frog, would flop, you were wrong. Current estimates rank the film at $11.8 million for yesterday alone. It is now estimated to surpass it's $40 million dollar weekend estimate, and actually make $50 million. It is also the highest-grossing opening day for a Thanksgiving weekend release, beating out 2002's Toy Story 2, which grossed $53 million. Sadly, it is not predicted to win the weekend in total haul, as the world's top-grossing wizard, Harry Potter, is expected to gross $90 million over the weekend in the series' latest installment, The Deathly Hallows.
Here's how the weekend is predicted to go down in the box-office:
1. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1: $80 million
2. Tangled: $50 million
3. Burlesque: $18 million
4. Megamind: $12.5 million
5. Love & Other Drugs: $15 million
6. Unstoppable: $11 million
7. Faster: $9.4 million
